Comic Arts Awards of Australia Acknowledging excellence in Australian comics publishing
A GoFundMe campaign has just gone live to help raise much-needed funds for the CAAAs. Please help out if you can.
The 2023 Comic Arts Awards of Australia is asking for your support.
It’s always tough raising money to hold a community event. Since 2005, the Comic Arts Awards of Australia (formerly the Ledger Awards) have relied on a core group of amazing volunteers, businesses and organisations for their time and financial support. People and businesses that believe that the comic arts community in this country needs and deserves an event like the CAAAs to focus attention, not only on the award recipients and shortlisted projects but on all Australian comics and graphic novels.
This year, the Awards are being held in Adelaide for the very first time. Even a relatively small event like the CAAAs needs funds for trophies, postage, promotion, web hosting and all the other myriad costs associated with organising a non-profit arts event.
As well, our work continues on the Australian Comics Database, a fully-searchable database of Australian comics, past and present.
But time is running out and certain costs need to be committed to and paid ahead of time for an awards ceremony in mid-September! This is the main reason why this fundraising campaign has been set up. To raise some much-needed funds relatively quickly.
We realise times tough on the $$ front, so even if you can’t contribute, please do spread the campaign link around on your socials. Every little bit helps.
All funding will go towards making the 2023 Comic Arts Awards of Australia a memorable event in acknowledging excellence in Australian comic books and graphic novels.
