2023 Awards update

ITEM! 2023 SHORTLIST TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON

The 2023 Judging Panel (see this post) is currently hard at work and getting to the pointy end of deciding which projects released in 2022 will receive Gold, Silver or Bronze Ledgers. So many amazing projects to read and assess – the shortlisted results will be announced right here (and on the socials, of course!) VERY SOON!

ITEM! 2023 LEDGERS OF HONOUR

It was one of the first things locked in earlier this year by the diligent LoH Committee. The 2023 recipients will be announced at the same time as the 2023 Shortlist.

Ledger of Honour Award, Living/Producing: Committee headed by Nat Karmichael with members Jeremy Macpherson, Matt Emery & Bruce Mutard

Ledger of Honour Award, Deceased/Retired: Committee headed by Nat Karmichael with members Jeremy Macpherson, Matt Emery, Graeme Cliffe & Jeff Battista

ITEM! 2023 PLATINUM LEDGER

Very recently, the 2023 Platinum Ledger recipient was also decided by the Platinum Award Committee. The recipient or recipients will also be announced with the 2023 Shortlist.

Platinum Ledger Committee: Headed by Gary Chaloner with members Bernard Caleo, Karen Dwarte, Greg Gates, Owen Heitmann, Amy Maynard & Tim McEwen

ITEM! 2023 AWARDS CEREMONY

We’ll be announcing further details (location, start times etc.) very soon, but save the date: Friday night, 15th September, in Adelaide – ahead of, and presented in partnership with, PAPERCUTS COMICS FESTIVAL!

ITEM! AUSTRALIAN COMICS DATABASE

Clocking in currently at over 1,680 comics listed! As soon as things calm down a bit with judging and shortlist announcements, more titles will be added. It’s definitely an ongoing process!

ITEM! 2023 FUNDRAISING

Final item! We’ll be going live, in a day or so, with a quick little GoFundMe campaign to raise much-needed funds to cover the costs of trophy building, website hosting, live streaming, and the other many various and sundry costs that add up to putting on the CAAAs each year. When we go live with the campaign, if you can please help out as you can, or by sharing the campaign link far and wide. We think the CAAAs (and the ACDB) do a meaningful job of spotlighting and supporting local creators and projects, we hope you can support us as well! Thanks in advance!

If you represent a business that would like to come on board as an official CAAA sponsor (joining Media Arts Lawyers, Impact! Comics and Jeffries Printing) please do drop us a line. We’ll be happy to talk!
