2025 Judging Panel

Our judges bring a depth of experience, insight, and care to the Comic Arts Awards of Australia. Drawn from across the Australian comics community, the panel reflects a diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and voices, ensuring the awards recognise excellence, integrity, and impact in Australian comics.

Reimena Yee

Reimena Yee is a strange and fancy illustrator, designer and graphic novelist from Kuala Lumpur. She makes books for children and grown-up children.

Brendon Dann

Brendon has wasted most of his life reading comics, selling comics, promoting comics and comic book art.

Jim Picton

James ‘Jimbo’ Picton is an Australian digital media artist and award-winning educator based in Canberra, known for his work across digital media and creative practice.

Crys Clitheroe

Crys Clitheroe is a PhD candidate studying Science Communication in Fictional Comics at the Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science and is part of the Popsicule, ANU’s Science in Pop Culture and Entertainment Hub. Their research focuses on the unique ways in which fictional comics organise and convey information in cognitively complex ways and shape our cultural imaginings and understanding of what science is, how it works, and who gets to use it.

Nat Karmichael

A long-standing figure in the Australian comics community, with more than a decade of experience as a publisher and editor. Actively publishing Australian comics since 2011, Nat is known for a deep passion for sharing local comic stories with the world and for supporting creators through thoughtful, experienced editorial guidance. Their ongoing contribution has helped shape and strengthen Australia’s independent comics landscape.
