Unfortunately, they are soon interrupted by a group of angry artists who take offence to Raecl's presence in the studio, resulting in Raecl and their art being attacked. Distraught, a drawing Raecl does of a black cat comes to life, and they use this cat to seek revenge.

Limit is based on a story i created when i was at film school which i intended to write a feature film script for, only to be too young to bring it to life how i had envisioned it. After many years of it kicking around in my head, and after self publishing a decent number of graphic novels, i decided it was time to revisit the project. It's the first volume of 10.

Funk Buddies was an experiement, inspried by a very unusual interaction at a convention, and spurred on by friends wanting me to push myself beyond comfort zones and to expand my storytelling skillset, in a genre not typically known for strong stories or characters. This was one of the most challenging stories i've attempted to tell.

The story was told to me by chef Peter Wu in an interview with him and his mother, Xiao Linh Meng. It's about the tensions of growing up as a second generation migrant of a refugee mother working tirelessly in a suburban noodle house, how Peter had developed an independent interest in entering the industry with his own trendy bar, and how his entrepreneurship and desire to share cuisine from his heritage led him to working closer than he'd expected with his mother, appreciating her work and innovating with her recipes for a new audience in their new home in Australia.

With this anecdote, I wanted to discuss how second generation migrant children negotiate tensions between their ethnic history and their experience in a new culture - how they balance authenticity and loyalty to traditions with a need to transform and innovate to connect with a new community in a new culture with different languages and tastes.

The Shell Refinery, now named Viva, looms over Corio.
My paternal uncle who lived with my paternal grandmother in Lara for his entire life is one of the last of a generation to take a job there and never leave it. My maternal grandmother, Grandy, lives in commission housing in Corio. She volunteers with Greening Australia, conserving Limeburners Lagoon, a significant tidal wetlands that lives in the shadow of the refinery.
This comic encompasses illustrations, photographs, maps and ecological data, taking as its focus the land which splits Lara from Corio. Weaving together parallel narratives of my uncle's lifelong employment at the refinery, and my grandmother's environmentalism, the work of Greening Australia and the perspective of a member of the Wathaurong Collective who do work in the area, this piece examines the way in which intergenerational attitudes and beliefs contradict one another in our shaping of the land. Set against a backdrop of dying industry and flagging corporate responsibility, this piece asks whether the small efforts we make to clean up the mess of the past can be enough. It was first published by Reading Victoria, online in October 2018.

Dream Diary encompasses an ongoing project best described as free associative poetry. This book includes a number of brief vignettes which describe the author's dreams and anxieties, as well as a longer, surreal story: A young woman has a dream about taking a train out to the countryside with her oblivious ex-boyfriend and his skeptical new girlfriend. They are drawn into a bitter fight, with no possible resolution.

A new exhibition titled Bodies of Water by Campbell Whyte has opened at Manning Community Centre and will be on display to the community until 27 January 2019.
In his comic works, Campbell tries to make visible the way thoughts flow together, past, present, future. The physical world around us and the internal world blurring and connecting. Bodies of Water is a work that tries to connect the artist’s life on this land with the life in the land.

Until We Are All Free was launched in August 2018 and received a Highly Commended nod (Book Series) from the Australian/New Zealand Illustration Awards in October 2018.

Behind The Scenes is a collection of comics about my creative process. Alien abductions, murals that talk back, and a creature-leaking inter-dimensional portal uncovered by construction workers - there is always something weird happening in Spewtown.

Spewtown is a comic book that parodies inner west life, celebrates Newtown locals, and shines a light on the urban legends and history of the neighbourhood. Initially released as a black and white street press in June of 2018, Spewtown has grown into a bi-monthly colour print publication with an engaged social media following. The comic is stocked in retailers including Better Read Than Dead, Repressed Records, and Calstars Pop Culture and is available online.

'Drongo' is a serial variety comic by Melbourne illustrator Natalie Michelle Watson. It is the embodiment of 90s Australian nostalgia; think Oddbodz, Peter Combe, Agro, and stuffy family road trips with no air-conditioning to see the Big Banana over a long weekend. Many of the comics are deeply personal, reflecting Natalie's own ideas about the past, present, and future of the current generation, combined with her own life experiences. The comics in the 'Drongo' also touch on the social effects of gentrification and globalisation, as well as the future of politics in Australia and the world. Most of it's just for a laugh, though.

The first published comic from artist & writer Iggy Dido Jae, "What Colour Is Blue? Chapter 1 KOMPLETT" follows Zach Weissermann, a 21-year-old student from the deserts of Ground Zero, who moves to the city of Eschva. Zach finds the move difficult, which is not made easier by the number of new faces. But, one in particular is very familiar.

Originally started as a webcomic in December 2016, Jae moved to working on it in private, & releasing it in small chunks throughout 2017-18, before publishing the KOMPLETT edition on their 25th birthday (4th August, 2018).
